National Cadet Corps (NCC)

principle

Barasat College started functioning in the year 1972. However, the journey of National Cadet Corps (NCC) started on the same day in the year 2016 with about 52 Cadets. It was 2017 when the NCC Commanding Officer visited the college and cadets planted twenty plants in presence of him on that auspicious World Environment Day. On 14th August the college undertook several campaigning programmes of 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan' covering the nearby areas of college campus. On 16th August, the college attended the ranking ceremony at Kalighat Office (20 Bengal NCC). The college also conducted an eye check-up campaign in collaboration with Susruta on 14th September. SWACH BHARAT ABHIYAN has always been their first priority to encourage everyone.

National Service Scheme (NSS)

principle

National Service Scheme unit of our college started functioning two years ago with a special camp as part of its programme to sensitize volunteers to the needs of the community. By awakening the students’ sense of social commitment it has added a new dimension to campus life. It has now two units. Each member of NSS is awarded a certificate by West Bengal State University on satisfactory completion of the course. Barasat College is engaged in NSS activities round the year. These units of NSS undertake many programmes, both internal and external, that include :

1. College Beautification
2. Anti-communal week observation
3. Anti smoking campaign in nearby railway station
4. Social integration under the banner of “We are all one”
5. Anti-smoking campaign in nearby railway station
5. Health awareness camps in nearby village
6. Visiting Anganwari Centres
